In the summer of 2024, a fire broke out in an apartment block in East London, causing a roof fire. 

The firefighting efforts had to be temporarily halted upon the discovery of solar panels, as there was no signage in the entrance hall to inform the fire brigade of their presence. In such cases, the isolation switch must be activated during a fire.

It’s crucial for the fire brigade to be aware of the exact location of the plant room or mains cupboards, especially if these are not immediately visible at the main entrance.
